From 5 – 7 November 2013 Green Bridge Forum partners visited Astana, Kazakhstan.

 

On November 5, 2013 Green Bridge Forum and the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in Kazakhstan organized seminar “Opportunities for Latvia and Kazakhstan cooperation in the field of environmentally friendly technologies, facilitate the transition to a “green economy.”

 

The event was opened by H.E. Juris Maklakovs, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Kazakhstan and Alda Ozola, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of the Republic of Latvia.

 

During the seminar environment experts and cleantech entrepreneursof Latvia and Kazakhstan discussed opportunities of purposeful cooperation of Latvian and Kazakh state institutions, as well as representatives of business, in the field of environmentally friendly technologies, the transition to a “green economy.” Discussion facilitated the exchange of points of view, the prospects of “green” development, as well as to identify ways of realization of the investment projects and technologies that can bring significant benefits in living standards and economic development.

 

Participants From Latvian side in the seminar were: Green Bridge Forum, Cleantech Latvia, Cluster of industrial energy efficiency of Latvia, companies: Citrus Solutions, UPB, Vega 1.

Topics of the seminar:

  • Waste-to-energy;
  • Modern technology and processes to improve energy efficiency;
  • Water and wastewater management technologies;
  • Implemented cogeneration projects (Latvia, Norway, Germany (BASF), Great Britain).

 

During the visit Ms Alda Ozola, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of the Republic of Latvia and representatives of Green Bridge Forum met with Ahsambievom Talgat Abdykaimovichom, Vice – Minister of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Water Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
