The first Green Bridge Forum (GBF 2013) “The transition to „a green economy” through the introduction of environmentally – friendly technologies” was held in Riga, Latvia, from 5 to 7 December 2013. The aim of the conference was to consider the opportunities of the cooperation between Kazakhstan and Latvia in promotion of “green economy” and “green” business. The three-day event was organized by Green Bridge Forum with the support of Cleantech Latvia (Clean Technology Cluster of Latvia), Industrial Energy Efficiency Cluster of Latvia and Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of Republic of Latvia.
The Green Bridge Forum 2013 highlighted both success stories and outstanding policy challenges. Among approximately 100 participants there were high-level government officials, representatives of the private sector, and academic and clean technology experts from both countries.
The Conference showcased and assessed concrete examples of the application of green industry concepts and technologies to to improve industry proceses, infrastructure and living conditions. The innovative management and technology approaches presented demonstrated the commercial viability of applying green policies and practices and explored specific challenges and opportunities for different sectors and regions.
